CHILD DENTAL BENEFITS SCHEDULE

Ensuring that eligible families are aware.

  • 95% of all oral conditions are preventable.

  • Most dental conditions can be avoided with earlier treatment.

  • Low awareness, high cost, lack of access and competing priorities are barriers to dental care.

The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) provides access to basic dental care for eligible children in Australia aged 0-17 years, through both public and private dental practices. CDBS provides up to $1095 worth of treatment every two years but many eligible families are unaware of this program. AOHPI calls upon the Australian Government to better promote the CDBS to those who need it the most.

AGED CARE

Reshaping oral healthcare for older Australians: taking a holistic approach. The cost-benefit of improved oral health for older Australians.

The findings of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety have shone a spotlight on a problem that has been hidden from the public eye for decades. The current woeful state of oral health in older adults living in Australia requires urgent attention to reduce human suffering. The Australian Oral Health Policy Inistitute is calling upon the Australian Government to make a meaningful committment to support the recommendationsof the Royal Commission and enable our elderly to live free of pain, consume a nutritious diet that promotes overall health and maintain their dignity.
